Abstract A viscous fluid is confined between two smooth horizontal walls, in a vertical channel. The upper wall may move with constant speed, but the lower stationary and portion of it heated. plume heated develops, also be swept downstream by motion wall. When heating effect small plate does not move, closed-form solution for temperature profile presented. numerical spectral method then presented, allows highly accurate nonlinear solutions to obtained, motion. These are compared against linearized case, effects nonlinearity on velocity revealed. results show that periodic shedding from region can occur case.
